In September we opened up Growing Stars Pre-School Rothwell.
The first day was super exciting, we opened up our doors to the children starting with us and their families too. Everyone had a fabulous day and were looking forward to their journey of learning at Growing Stars Pre-School
We had a fantastic morning learning about different places in the world. One of our families kindly came in to teach the children about their culture. The children learnt about Belize and Colombia. We looked on a map to see where the Countries are and spoke about how you would get there. The children looked at the flags for both countries and were shown traditional clothing before learning a new dance. We then got to try some delicious foods, it was lovely to see the children trying new foods. We then finished off with a piñata.
The children all listened well and had a great time. Thank you very much for coming to visit today.

The children have been discussing and looking at the Earth. We have spoken about blue Representing the water and green represents the land on the globe. We looked at how recycling helps the Earth. We had lots of lovely conversations about the Earth.
With the nicer weather around the corner, the children have been busy planting seeds. We can't wait to see them grow.
We has the pleasure of lots of mummies join us for a stay and play session early in the month. It was such an exciting day for the children.
We celebrated world book day with lots of costumes and stories.
At the end of Animal Edge visited Growing Stars Pre-School. The children learnt how to handle different animals, what they eat, where they sleep and the needs of the individual animal.
We also had small interactive games and activities suited to the group to really engage them in the importance of caring for our animals and how nature works.
The children managed to fill the marble jar just in time before half term, therefore they got to pick a treat for all their hard work. They decided they wanted a superhero and princess day, we feel so honored that Spider-Man took the time to pop in to say Hi to all the children.
The children have had a great time making potions, rescuing people, going on a superhero hunt and finished the day off with a visit to the local park to practice are climbing skills.
On 14th February, the children went on a walk to raise some money for the local charity The Heart of Marston, they raised £90 for the charity. Thank you to everyone, for all your kindness and a massive well done to all the children for super walking.
We were delighted to welcome all of the children back after Christmas. We have thoroughly enjoyed hearing about the wonderful things they've been up to with their loved ones.
In January, we have been learning about winter and the weather changes at preschool. We have spoken about the wild life and how in the cold temperatures they find it hard to find food.
We went to the field outside of preschool to put out some fat balls for the birds, the children loved placing them around and we can’t wait to go back and see if they have been eaten.
The children have enjoyed making their own obstacle courses around the pre-school garden. Obstacle courses help improve coordination, balance and spatial awareness.
Your child’s Learning Journey tells the story of their learning. Over time, it will become a celebration of their achievement and progress, recording the activities that your child has enjoyed in the setting and with family and friends at home.
This learning journey will be available through our Tapestry system where you can access photos, observations and much more. Through logging on to this system you will have access to your child’s ‘magic moments’ that you can enjoy together as a family.
There are government guidelines for schools, pre-schools and nurseries about health protection and managing specific infectious diseases at GOV.UK. These say when children should be kept off pre-school and when they shouldn't.
If you do keep your child at home, it's important to phone the pre-school or nursery on the first day. Let them know that your child won't be in and give them the reason.
If your child is well enough to go to pre-school but has an infection that could be passed on, such as a cold sore or head lice, let their teacher know.
Please note:
If your child has recently started antibiotics, Growing Stars Pre-School require the child to stay away from pre-school for a minimum of 48 hours after beginning the medication. This precaution serves two purposes: first, it allows time to observe any potential adverse reactions to the antibiotics; second, it ensures that the medication has had a chance to start working before the child returns to the pre-school.
We regularly discuss with the children the benefits of washing hands. We explain how washing their hands can keep them safe from bacteria and viruses that can make them and others around them sick.
We are teaching them about how even though germs are invisible, they could still be there.
Our pre-schoolers all wash their hands before any food independently, under supervision. We are always on hand to assist anyone that needs help.
Well Done Everyone!
Francessca Reeve's Photography will be joining us for the day to capture some wonderful memories of the children.
