Sponsored Walk

Yesterday the children did a great job walking around the field outside preschool three times!!!! Considering it was a very hot day, they all did a fantastic job. Each time round they were cooled down by the staff spraying them with the water pistols. Not sure who had more fun.

We were raising money for the ‘National Autistic Society’ and ‘MIND’, which we are still receiving very kind donations from you all.

Well done to all the children, and thank you to everyone who donated!!!

Fathers Day

Sponsored Walk

This week we have been learning all about the farm and what animals on the farm give us.

We have spent our focus time looking at the sheep and their wool, the cows with their milk and the chickens giving us eggs.

We had a cow milking station, sheared the sheep and made some chicks.

We have made tractors in the garden and piled tyres high, we have been practising our pencil holding and tracing the names of the animals.

We have learnt about the life cycles of the the animals and even had a framer and his tractor join us.

The children were so excited to see the tractor outside, they got to sit in the tractor and see what all the buttons do.

We really have had a fabulous week and can not wait to learn about the fields on the farm and what they produce.

 VE Day Celebrations 1945-2025

A wonderful afternoon tea for a  wonderful group of children to celebrate and discuss VE Day. They all ate well and used their manners, when being served their lunch.

The children had enjoyed exploring the colours, red, white and blue and trying on a selections of different hats throughout the decades .

Easter was quite late this year so we celebrated Easter before the end of term.

They have participated in many different activities that were set out by the wonderful staff at Growing Stars which benefit the children, and help develop the children further. From getting messy with the paints or various sensory activities to number recognition, improving fine motor skills with threading, scooping and pouring.

We also celebrated Mothers Day, we invited the mummies into the setting over a couple of sessions so they could enjoy some time with their children seeing what they get up first hand whilst at preschool.  The weather was glorious and we have lots of mummies come along to enjoy the sessions.

Master piece aliens

The children had shown a great interest in aliens and learning all about outer space.

We set up a table of arts and crafts for the children to create an alien (or whatever they wanted)

We had many eyes, arms and legs, some had just one eye, many legs and no arms.  Some were kind and some were a little cheeky, some were daring and some were shy.

We made up stories, learnt about our emotions and how the aliens were making us feel.

The creations were fabulous, well done everyone.

Care Home visit

This month we visited a lovely lday in the local care home who was celebrating her 102nd birthday.  Firstly, what an achievement and secondly thank you to the lovely staff at Blakelands Lodge Care Home for welcoming us with open arms.

The children walked beautifully down to the care home, along the way we stopped to buy some flowers at the local shop.

We went into the care home and the staff welcomed the children with a drink and a biscuit.

All the children were super stars and we are super proud of the hard work they put into making lots of cards too.

Well done everyone

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL

Great teamwork children !

The children enjoyed doing some Christmas colouring sheets in the garden.
After realising there wasn’t enough space in the literacy shed for all of them, we asked what we could do so everyone has space to colour? They suggested the pallet and helped move it over, popped tyres underneath so it was like a table and logs around it so they had something to sit on. Great team work and initiative!!!

November 2024

Another busy month at Growing Stars Preschool.  We spent time looking at the colour yellow, learning about children in need day, dressed up in yellow, our PJ's or whatever we fancied that. day.

We made bears, had lots of puddly activities set up and played with the yellow play dough too.

Autumn had started and there is nothing more the children enjoy than a hunt around the garden and fields on a scavenger hunt.

We made pumpkin pie, acorn soup and slug surprise in the mud kitchen.

We practised our potion making and even had a go at using the hammers to knock in golf tees into the pumpkins.

We love autumn at Growing Stars Preschool.

Learning Journeys

Tapestry

Your child’s Learning Journey tells the story of their learning. Over time, it will become a celebration of their achievement and progress, recording the activities that your child has enjoyed in the setting and with family and friends at home.

This learning journey will be available through our Tapestry system where you can access photos, observations and much more. Through logging on to this system you will have access to your child’s ‘magic moments’ that you can enjoy together as a family.

My child is unwell, can they still attend?

It can be tricky deciding whether or not to keep your child off Pre-School when they're unwell.

There are government guidelines for schools, pre-schools and nurseries about health protection and managing specific infectious diseases at GOV.UK. These say when children should be kept off pre-school and when they shouldn't.

If you do keep your child at home, it's important to phone the pre-school or nursery on the first day. Let them know that your child won't be in and give them the reason.

If your child is well enough to go to pre-school but has an infection that could be passed on, such as a cold sore or head lice, let their teacher know.

Please note:

If your child has recently started antibiotics, Growing Stars Pre-School require the child to stay away from pre-school for a minimum of 48 hours after beginning the medication. This precaution serves two purposes: first, it allows time to observe any potential adverse reactions to the antibiotics; second, it ensures that the medication has had a chance to start working before the child returns to the pre-school.

Hygiene at Growing Stars Pre-School School

We regularly discuss with the children the benefits of washing hands. We explain how washing their hands can keep them safe from bacteria and viruses that can make them and others around them sick.

We are teaching them about how even though germs are invisible, they could still be there.

Our pre-schoolers all wash their hands before any food independently, under supervision. We are always on hand to assist anyone that needs help.

Well Done Everyone!
